There are three different metrics for the number of weekly deaths from COVID-19 in England and Wales: first, the number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test; second, the number of deaths with COVID-19 on the death certificate; and third, excess deaths (the number of deaths in excess of the average over the last five years).
