In modern samples, fertility has a weak relationship with intelligence. The typical finding is of a correlation around r = –.1 between number of offspring and a measure of cognitive ability. However, some studies have reported small positive associations, particularly among men. But what about the country level? There the correlation is much stronger. At a reader’s request, I will examine this relationship using the latest available data.
